MT. PLEASANT, Iowa — A fruit tree grafting workshop will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on March 28, 2019 at the Henry County Extension Office in Mt. Pleasant. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Horticulture Specialist, Patrick O’Malley, will be teaching fruit tree grafting techniques.
Workshop participants will receive two rootstock, which they will self-graft, to take home. Supplies will be provided, but participants are welcomed to bring their own scion wood, if desired. Additional rootstock may be purchased for $5 each the night of the program. “Fruit tree grafting is becoming more popular all the time and Patrick O’Malley is a wonderful resource to show us how to do it correctly,” said Darbee Wellman, Henry County Extension Ag and Youth Educator.
Participants are required to pre-register and space is limited. The fee for the workshop is $35/person or $60/couple. Registration forms can be picked up at the Henry County Extension Office or accessed on the Henry County Extension webpage. Registrations and payments are due to the Henry County Extension Office, located at 127 N. Main Street in Mt.
