EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State University Extension recently announced a new produce safety training opportunity designed specifically for farm supervisors.
This **FREE** three week online training is designed to help on-farm produce safety supervisors learn more about the requirements of the FSMA Produce Safety Rule and how to use relevant resources to reduce their farm’s food safety risks.
At the end of the course, on-farm produce safety supervisors can expect to have a better understanding of the basic requirements under FSMA that fall within their job responsibilities. They will also be better equipped to identify food safety risks in their daily work, and they will leave the course with actionable plans for better skill-based employee trainings and emergency response measures for their farm. All participants will receive a certificate of completion for participating, with those achieving 90% or higher on quizzes receiving a certificate of mastery.
The self-paced course begins October 1st and includes two weeks of instruction with one additional week at the end to submit assignments. The course is available through Michigan State University’s Desire to Learn (D2L) online learning platform and will require approximately 4 hours of time to complete (including weekly discussions and assignments).
The course is comprised of nine modules that relate to Good Agricultural Practices and regulations within the FSMA Produce Safety Rule.
