DECATUR, Ill. — Spring is on the way and homeowners can make sure they’re ready for gardening and landscaping with a free webinar series from University of Illinois Extension. Head to the Decatur Public Library for a live, interactive webinar on gardening with herbs, invasive insects and grass identification.
• “Gardening with Culinary Herbs” will be 1:30 p.m. April 2. Gardening with culinary herbs is a simple way to add interest and fragrance to your garden and landscape. Horticulture Educator Jennifer Fishburn will share tips on using herbs to attract pollinating insects.
• “Invasive Insects” will be 1:30 p.m. April 23. University of Illinois Agricultural Pest Survey Coordinator Kelly Estes will talk about Illinois’ Most Unwanted, the latest pests that threaten farmers, gardeners and homeowners. Estes will discuss insect identification characteristics, host preferences and their impact on Illinois.
• “Which Grass is Which?” will be 1:30 p.m. June 11. Energy & Environmental Stewardship Educator Erin Medvecz will discuss basic grass identification and shares tips and techniques to identifying a number of common grasses in Illinois.
