BURLINGTON, Vt. — A “Lunch and Learn” webinar on June 28 will provide farmers with an opportunity to learn more about the Agricultural Clean Water Initiative Program (Ag CWIP).
Tony Kitsos and Zac Smith, University of Vermont (UVM) Extension farm business advisors, will lead the session, which will run from noon to 1 p.m. They will cover Required Agricultural Practices, types of farms and examples of water quality improvements and farmers’ experiences with water quality projects. They also will review technical and financial assistance programs to implement similar improvements on farms and how to apply.
The webinar is free, but registration is required to receive the Zoom link. To register, go to https://go.uvm.edu/cwiprogram. To request a disability-related accommodation to participate, contact Zac Smith at (802) 524-6501, ext. 446.
A second webinar will be offered on Aug. 18 at noon. “Grant Preparedness for Clean Water Improvements on the Farm” will focus on the steps and processes to successfully assess, finance, implement and manage a water quality improvement project on the farm. Details will be available closer to that date.
Ag CWIP, a Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets program, provides funding for agricultural water quality programs including UVM Extension’s Agricultural Business program, which works with dairy, livestock and other farm enterprises that currently address water quality issues.
