CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — While the format of programs has changed greatly over the last several months, Franklin County 4-H is adapting well to this change. We are exploring new ways to connect with youth and provide hands-on learning experiences that embrace the 4-H slogan, “Learn By Doing.” Franklin County 4-H will be adding Special Interest (SPIN) Clubs in the new 4-H program year that begins October 1, 2020. A SPIN Club focuses on one hobby or skill for 6 hours over just 2 months.
The first SPIN Club to be offered is the Holiday Ornament SPIN Club for youth ages 12-18. Participants will be provided with a Project Kit with supplies to complete a different ornament each week for 6 weeks during interactive Zoom meetings. The Zoom meetings will take place on Mondays at 6:00 PM from October 12 through November 16.
Participants must enroll in Franklin County 4-H. Enrollment for the 2020-2021 Franklin County 4-H program year costs $21. Registration for the Holiday Ornament SPIN Club is due by October 9. To register, contact Jess Howe at juk600@psu.edu or 717-263-9226.
Some of the other SPIN Clubs that have been confirmed for this program year include: website design, mixed media arts and crafts, woodworking, coding and computer programming, and more! Follow the Franklin County 4-H Facebook and Instagram pages at FranklinCoPA4H to get notified as registration information is available.
