KIMBERLY, Wis. — Join us for the 5th Annual Farmer Roundtable! This year’s event features opening remarks by US Congressman Mike Gallagher! We are also excited to welcome Tony Peirick, chair of the Dodge County Farmers for Healthy Soil – Healthy Waters and co-owner of T&R Dairy, LLC, and Barry Bubolz, NRCS Area GLRI Coordinator to discuss the history and successes of our local farmer-led groups. On-farm demonstrations provide insight into the successful design, implementation, and management of innovative soil health promoting practices. For more than five years, farmer-led watershed groups, farm demonstration networks and farmer champions have provided the knowledge and leadership needed to change eastern Wisconsin’s farming practices for the better.
The event also features a Farmer Panel and three breakout session topics to choose from:
- Enhancing Manure Management – Application Options & Technologies
- Successful Crops Start with Successful Planting – No-Till Planter Set-Up
- Rebuilding Resilient Soils
The Farmer Roundtable is free to attend for farmers, includes lunch and a Happy Hour from 4:00-5:00 PM.
The Farmer Roundtable Planning Team is led by the Alliance for the Great Lakes and includes crop consultants, agency staff, farmers, and non-governmental organizations. The team strives to ensure the Farmer Roundtable is farmer focused and farmer driven. The goal is to create an event for farmers to collectively learn from each other about conservation topics in ways relevant to their individual farm and the watershed. In recent years, the event drew more than 130 attendees from northeast WI, the majority being farmers and crop consultants.
Space is limited and farmer registrations receive first priority.
Visit www.foxdemofarms.org to register by January 22th.
