GREENSBORO, N.C. — The fourth annual Guilford County Local Foods Celebration is right around the corner! We are a county full of farmers, gardeners, chefs, home cooks, and good eaters. $1.4 billion is spent on food in Guilford County each year. Spending just 10% of our existing food budgets on local food would add $140 to our local economy, supporting our neighbors and local food businesses.
There is an event for everyone during the Local Foods Celebration! During October 5 through 12, you are invited to events throughout Guilford County at farmers markets, community gardens, urban and rural farms, community dinners, and library branches to celebrate the ways that we grow, buy, cook, and eat local foods.
Share how you celebrate local foods with the hashtags #guilfordeats and #guilfordlocal.
Planning partners for Guilford County Local Foods Week include: North Carolina Cooperative Extension – Guilford County Center, Piedmont Triad Farmers Market, High Point Farmers Market, Greensboro Farmers Curb Market, Greensboro Public Library, Growing High Point, Greater High Point Food Alliance, and Guilford Food Council/ Education Awareness.
