COLLINSVILLE, Ill. — University of Illinois Extension’s horticulture team is offering 3 webinars via our Skype system that are perfect for fall planning and planting. Join us on Tuesday, September 11 at 1:30 p.m. for Spring Flowering Bulbs presented by Jennifer Fishburn, Extension Horticulture Educator. Spring flowering bulbs are a great addition to a garden. They normally start flowering in February, with snowdrops and end in June with alliums. Join us to learn about selection, planting and care of spring flowering bulbs.
On Tuesday, September 25, at 1:30 p.m., Extension Educator Duane Friend will discuss how to get the right compost mix by using simple calculations or online recipe calculators in the session Making Your Compost Cook: Fixing the Right Recipe. If you want to have a higher quality compost and have a finished product in a shorter time, you need to make sure you’ve got the right mix of materials.
The third in the series will be Plant Pathogenic Viruses, presented by Diane Plewa, Plant Diagnostic Outreach Specialist on Tuesday, October 9 at 1:30 p.m. Plants can’t get the flu, but they can get a number of other viral diseases. Learn about common symptoms, common virus diseases, and management for these tiny pathogens!
These webinars are offered at the Madison-Monroe-St. Clair Unit offices located at 1 Regency Plaza Drive, Suite 200, Collinsville and at the Monroe County Annex Building, 901 Illinois Avenue, Waterloo. There is no cost to attend these sessions, though pre-registration is required so that we can be ready with handout information.
