MONROE CO., N.Y. — New York requires that all businesses, including farmers’ markets, prepare and execute a Safety Plan for reopening. The Plan must lay out the measures that will be taken to protect market vendors, staff and the shoppers against the COVID-19 spread. While the Safety Plan doesn’t have to be submitted to any institution, it must be on site and readily available for inspection if requested by a state or county health official.
To help market managers and organizers create a Safety Plan, the Farmers Market Federation of NY has developed a template. Guest speaker Diane Eggert, Executive Director, Farmers Market Federation of NY, will share the template with the participants and walk them through the key steps of the Safety Plan development process. The attendees will also be able to ask questions specific to their farmers’ markets situation during the Q&A session.
This virtual Open Forum has been organized in collaboration with the Agriculture Program, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County and Farmers Market Federation of NY.
