CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The former executive director of a group that advises the agriculture and forestry industries in New Hampshire has been convicted of providing false information to the U.S. Department of Agriculture to draw funds from a grant.
A federal jury in Concord found 51-year-old Suzanne Brown, of Errol, guilty last week. Brown was executive director of the New Hampshire Institute of Agriculture and Forestry.
Jurors found she submitted documents saying the organization paid thousands of dollars to employees for services rendered. Prosecutors say the statements were made to draw down funds from a USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant. They say she created fraudulent invoices purportedly prepared by one or more workers outlining the services performed and the money they were owed.
She’s scheduled to be sentenced on May 11.
