GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. — Itasca County Private Woodlands Committee and a host of forestry partners are pleased to offer the Fall Forestry Field Day on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. at Itasca Community College, Chucker Auditorium, 1851 E. Highway 169, Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The $20 registration fee includes lunch and tour transportation.

The afternoon field site tour includes an afforestation site that was previously utilized for agricultural production and it is now a young forest growing pine and spruce trees. Visit an aspen harvest site that was planted with spruce prior to harvest. Another location includes a private landowner site and he has conducted multiple forest management projects to enhance his property for wildlife. Finally, you will have the opportunity to see a harvest site where multiple forest management techniques have been utilized to regenerate different species that will lead to a more diverse future forest.
