MADISON — Consumers are subjected to fear-based marketing claims nearly everywhere – on grocery store shelves, product labels, advertising, social media and more. The 2017 PDPW Food & Policy Summit, presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW), will examine some of the fear-based claims and discuss how they could impact how dairy farmers operate now and in the future.

The PDPW Food & Policy Summit is a two-day collaborative event held Dec. 6-7, 2017 at the Sheraton Hotel in Madison, Wis.  The summit is open for one-day or two-day registration, and will bring together innovative dairy farm owners, industry CEOs, food system executives and key decision makers and thought leaders from across the food value chain.

An impressive line-up of speakers will address challenging issues facing the dairy industry and agriculture.  Presenters will include:  Chad Vincent, Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board; Matt McKnight, U.S. Dairy Export Council; Katrina Cravy, journalist and trainer; Michelle Johnson, former manager at the Associated Press; Linda Wenck, MorganMyers; Charlie Arnott, Center for Food Integrity; Dr. Allison Van Eenennaam, University of California-Davis; Dr. Frank Mitloehner, University of California-Davis; Dr. Randy Singer, University of Minnesota; and Dr. Mark Borchardt, USDA, and Michelle Johnson, of UW-Milwaukee.

“As a dairy farmer, I need to make decisions based not only on what is best for my business or my cows, but I also need to understand how those decisions can impact or be perceived by consumers,” said Mitch Breunig, PDPW Board Vice President and dairy farmer in Sauk City, Wis.  “The PDPW Food & Policy Summit brings together a variety of ag producers, media, consumer, industry and regulatory policy viewpoints to discuss some of the most important issues in dairy farming and food production today.”
