CHIPLEY, Fla. — This workshop will feature speakers presenting information about tree seedlings, current and future timber markets, forestry cost share programs, and other forestry related information.
The event will be held at the Washington County Agriculture Center auditorium. Sign-in 8:30 AM, workshop starts 9:00 AM CDT. Lunch will be served at approximately 11:30. Mill tours will start after lunch. Tours will be done in groups of 8-10 participants at a time and last approximately 30-45 minutes. Participants waiting for a mill tour are welcome to stay at the Ag Center to speak with the presenters and Florida Forest Service representative for information about forestry assistance and cost share programs.
The afternoon tour of Rex Lumber mill will last approximately 30-45 minutes. The tour will include seeing the process of logs being sawn into lumber. The tour involves walking, climbing stairs, loud noises, and being in and around industrial machinery.
