ROCKPORT, Maine (AP) — One of the biggest commercial fishing trade shows in the Northeast is scheduled to take place in Maine later this week.
The Maine Fishermen’s Forum will take place at the Samoset Resort in Rockport from Thursday through Saturday. The event’s organizers describe it as an event dedicated to “a healthy fishing industry engaged in stewardship and self-regulation.”
The event serves as a way for members of the industry to get valuable face time with regulators, suppliers, scientists and others.
The fishermen’s forum is typically the event at which Maine regulators unveil the state’s lobster catch for the previous year. The 2019 total is expected to be down from 2018, but still a healthy number.
