TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Douglas H. Fisher will be the Grand Marshal of the parade prior to the Sixth Annual Open Space Pace and Festival of Horses at Freehold Raceway on Saturday.
Secretary Fisher will lead the Jersey Fresh-themed parade starting at 11 a.m. at the Freehold Hall of Records. The parade will finish on the track at Freehold Raceway. The Open Space Pace and Festival of Horses celebrates the horse, New Jersey’s official state animal, promotes open space in New Jersey and raises funds for non-profit organizations that promote open space in New Jersey for equine, agricultural and recreation industries.
Admission is free at the track that day. The festival will feature a giveaway of five $1,000 scholarships for college students in attendance. Students can register at the track by using their college ID. Also, there will be booths with games for the entire family, a chance to ride a mechanical bull, food trucks and vendor booths. There is also a name the horse contest that can be entered on the event’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Openspacepace. The day will also feature a full harness racing card with the first race at 12:30 p.m.
Secretary Fisher will present a check to a local charity in the winner’s circle after the second race.
