ALBANY — New York Burger Lovers submitted over 400 nominations to kick off the quest to find the Best NY Burger. Nominations were accepted through New York Beef Council’s Facebook and Instagram as well as on www.fortheloveofnybeef.com. Burger fans were then asked once again to vote for their favorite burger limiting the competition to the final four contestants. The restaurants making the Final Four list (in alphabetical order) include:
• Ale & Angus Pub, Syracuse, “Power Play Burger”
• Crazy Otto’s Empire, Herkimer, “Loose Caboose”
• Madison Bistro, Wampsville. “Elvis Burger”
• Uncles Tavern, New York Mills, “Bacon Infused Burger”
“New Yorkers love their burgers! The photographs summited from the Top 10 restaurants were all mouthwatering and incredible. It has been great to see burger fans rally behind their favorite restaurant,” shared Jean O’Toole, New York Beef Council Executive Director.
To qualify, the burger must be a 100% beef patty or patties, although other ingredients may be added such as spices, and served on a bun, or bread product. Burgers may include any combination of condiments, sauces, cheese or toppings.
The quest for the winner of the Best NY Burger now enters its final phase. The Final Four burgers will be judged by YELP’s Elite Squad. The judges’ scores and comments will be accumulated and the winner will be announced on May 22. (May is Beef Month for New York State).
May is always an exciting time of year as warmer weather and grilling season really kicks off here in New York, says O’Toole, there is no better way to enjoy spring than devouring a great burger. This competition has shown there are many great restaurants and unique burger combinations to explore!”
