EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State University Extension specialists and educators who work with field crops have been hosting a series of “Field Crops Virtual Breakfast” meetings Thursday mornings during the 2018 growing season. These 30-minute online meetings run from 6:30-7 a.m. and include an update from an MSU campus specialist on a certain timely topic, then an update from MSU agricultural meteorologist and climate specialist Jeff Andresen, followed by an open-floor, question-and-answer discussion from all participants. The meetings are recorded and posted online at the Field Crops Virtual Breakfast page.
The next Virtual Breakfast meeting will take place July 12 and continue every other Thursday through Aug. 30. The remaining topics and dates are as follows:
- July 12 – soybean white mold with Martin Chilvers
- July 26 – irrigation management with Lyndon Kelley
- Aug. 9 – cover crops with Dean Baas
- Aug. 23 – soybean cyst nematodes with Marisol Quintanilla
- Aug. 30 – corn silage with Manni Singh
