MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Is a major agricultural business decision in your future? Harness the power of a feasibility study to help you grow or diversify your business. If you’re a young, beginning or small (YBS) farmer that lives in the AgChoice territory, AgChoice will defray eligible feasibility study costs through June 30 or until funds are exhausted.
For the Hoover family, Cambria County, a feasibility study helped them navigate financial decisions for their future. “As we looked to bring the next younger generation into farm ownership, we wanted to know if we should focus on cow comfort or increasing cow numbers,’ shared David Hoover. “With our consultant, we explored different scenarios including building a new barn for cow comfort and eventually adding robots or tiers of expansion over time.”
“I would recommend a feasibility study,” David continued. “Without the numbers in front of you, it’s hard to develop a financial plan yourself. We trust our consultant and what he’s telling us; he answers any questions and walks us through the options we want to discuss to keep us moving forward.”
In addition to meeting YBS farmer eligibility, recipients will be planning an agricultural business project that could benefit from a financial scenario analysis during the decision process. Farmers will work with an AgChoice business consultant and receive a feasibility study credit at payment. Farmers don’t need to be an existing AgChoice customer.
