RALEIGH, N.C. — Hemp growers across the nation have been waiting for the FDA to issue rules on hemp for use in human and animal food, cosmetics, medicine, and dietary supplements. The lack of regulations has a large impact on the hemp industry. For example, growers don’t know whether to invest more in CBD hemp production because they don’t know what products will be legal to be sold in this country.
But the FDA has just released its initial report to Congress on the matter. It doesn’t change anything right now, but it does give some insight into what direction they may be heading. You can read the report on the Hemp Supporter website. It is a 15-page report, but what most of us involved in growing hemp want to know about can be found on pages 1 through 4.
