ENFIELD, Conn. — Janice Bitter, a vice president and branch manager of Farm Credit East’s Cortland, N.Y., office, was recently elected as the new president of the Farm Financial Standards Council. This national organization is dedicated to helping farmers by promoting uniform financial reporting and analysis in the ag industry. Jan previously served as secretary/treasurer and vice president.
“In today’s increasingly complex business environment, producers need access to accurate financial information to make sound business decisions. This requires robust accounting systems to not only capture this data, but also to satisfy the reporting requirements of creditors and other parties,” said Bitter. “The Farm Financial Standards Council has guidelines in place to ensure producers have access to the necessary information and analysis.”
The Farm Financial Standards Council offers two guides to help producers capture accurate and meaningful data to make good business decisions. These guides include the Financial Guidelines for Agriculture and the Management Accounting Guidelines for Agriculture. Learn more at FFSC.org.
“We are very pleased that Jan has been recognized for her work with her election as President of the Farm Financial Standards Council,” said Gary Bradley, Farm Credit East executive vice president. “Jan is extremely dedicated and takes the extra steps as an employee of Farm Credit East to serve in leadership roles of related organizations that support agriculture.”
