RALEIGH, N.C. — NC State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has a new podcast series called Farms, Food, and You. It investigates ways that College faculty are helping farmers and processors of food, animal feed, and fiber turn wastes into valuable byproducts.
The focus of the first episode is vermicomposting. This is the practice of using earthworms and microorganisms to convert organic material (animal manure, crop residues, food scraps, paper, food processing residues, cotton, etc.) into a valuable soil amendment.
