Farmers' market training webinars

Farmers participating in WIC VF or FMNP must undergo formal training

JEFFERSON CO., N.Y. — Farmers interested in participating in the WIC Vegetables and Fruit Check Program (WIC VF) or Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) this market season are invited to attend group webinar-viewing sessions at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County.

Training Requirement

New farmers participating in FMNP and all farmers participating in the WIC VF program must undergo a formal training offered by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets (Department), and submit proof of training. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County will host these one-hour webinar presentations and administer a program quiz that will be returned to the Department as proof of training. New farmers in the FMNP must undergo formal training in their first year only. All farmers in the WIC VF program must undergo formal training every year.

Webinars are free and last 1 hour. The presentation is delivered via an online application called WebEx and the audio is available only through the phone. There are two types of webinars:

1. an FMNP webinar

2. an WIC VF webinar

You may also register for any of the online webinars independently on the Department website: http://www.agriculture.ny.gov/AP/agservices/fmnp-wicvf-webinars.html.

Wednesday, January 25, 2017 12 Noon – 1:00pm
Wednesday, February 1, 2017 12 Noon – 1:00pm
Friday, February 3, 2017 1:00pm – 2:00pm (Hosted at CCE Jefferson)

WIC VF Webinar Dates and Times
Tuesday, January 24, 2017 12 Noon – 1:00pm
Thursday, January 26, 2017 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Wednesday, February 1, 2017 2:30pm – 3:30pm (Hosted at CCE Jefferson)
