BLACK RIVER, N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County, in cooperation with the Farmer Veteran Coalition of New York (FVCNY), will be hosting a listening session to better assess the needs of our farmer veterans in Jefferson County. Veterans engaged in agriculture, from those just beginning to farms with decades of experience are invited to share their needs, challenges, and perceived opportunities in their industries. If you are unfamiliar with the work of the Farmer Veteran Coalition, we encourage you to look at the organization’s website: www.farmvetco.org, and join us as we discuss how we can better support veteran farmers.
This session will be held on Thursday August 22nd at Centerdale Farm. To register, please contact Erin Churchill at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The event will start at 6pm with an introduction from beef farmer Dave Hawthorne about his experience as a veteran farmer, followed by a meal of locally produced foods and then the listening session on the needs of farmer veterans in New York.
The address for the farm is:
28206 State Route 126
Black River, NY 13612
If you plan to attend, please register so we have an accurate headcount for food and drinks.
