ALTAMONT, N.Y. — Farm transition is among the most serious challenges in agriculture today. Whether it is a farmer aging out and wanting to retire, or a young farmer trying to start their own operation, the process of moving out of a farm or passing it to family members, or moving into a farm is always complicated and never easy.

The Town of Knox’s Agricultural Advisory Committee is partnering with Cornell Cooperative Extension, the American Farmland Trust, the National Young Farmers’ Coalition, USDA’s Farm Service Agency, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and Local Farms Fund to provide tools to farmers dealing with the challenges of farm transition.
There will be panels, discussions, Q&A and numerous opportunities for networking and follow-up.
