MANKATO, Minn. — Are you thinking about how to transfer your farm business or land to the next generation? Or are you a beginning farmer entering a farm business? University of Minnesota Extension is presenting twelve workshops on farm transition and estate planning this winter. These workshops are no cost to attendees, but pre-registration is required.
Workshops will be held from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm with lunch included. The locations are Lamberton on January 15; Madison on January 16, Goodhue on January 22; Austin on January 29; Winthrop on February 5; Hinckley on February 19; Floodwood on February 20; Faribault on March 7, St. Cloud on March 12; Alexandria on March 13, Thief River Falls on March 26, and Detroit Lakes on March 27. The workshop covers family communications, farm goal setting, business structures, inheritance and transition, estate and gift taxes, and retirement planning. Farmers at any stage, from beginning to retirement, can benefit from the workshop materials.
This workshop is a partnership of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and University of Minnesota Extension with funding support from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and collaboration with SCORE. These organizations also collaborate to offer farm transition planning retreats.
