BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Illinois specialty crop enthusiasts are invited to an educational tour jointly organized by the University of Illinois and Bronkberry Farms on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at 18061 S. Bronk Road, Plainfield, Ill. The farms grow vegetables and fruit including over 600 apple trees on 25+ acres. This season will be the first time apples will be produced. Chickens are also raised, and farm fresh eggs are sold.
The farm tour will be hosted by the farm owners Jennifer and Kevin; they will offer free hayrack rides to see the back fields. We will learn a lot from their experience growing specialty crops – they have a lot of farming tips to share. And, come prepared; there are many food items to buy in their shop! The event is free, but please register online by Aug. 26 here.
