DRYDEN, N.Y. — The Cornell Small Farms Program invites farmer veterans to apply for a 2-day workshop, taking place May 26 and 27 at Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden, NY. This intensive training will offer resources for farmers to improve their efficiency and productivity, enhance farm profitability, and make connections to available education and research for continued success on their farms.
The workshop is being hosted at the beautiful Tompkins Cortland Community College teaching farm (http://tc3farm.com/) with tours to Main Street Farms (https://mainstreetfarms.com/) and the Cornell University Freeville Organic Research Farm (https://cuaes.cals.cornell.edu/farms/thompson-research-farm). Participants will attend both classroom sessions and on-farm tours with hands-on activities. A selection of books, videos, guides will be provided, and follow-up one-on-one consultations will be arranged with each farmer.
This Memorial Day weekend event is free for NYS military veteran farmers, and their partners. Apply by visiting www.tinyurl.com/FarmOPSVeg to complete an application by April 25, 2018. Maximum class size is 25, so apply today. Selected participants will be notified by April 27, 2018.
