ENFIELD, Conn. — Farm Credit East announced today that the Farm Credit East Cares Community Fund donated $61,000 to various charitable organizations throughout the Northeast. Organizations receiving funds include agricultural and youth development, veteran assistance, food banks, charitable health and research organizations and various other not-for-profits.
“We are pleased to be able to provide this support to our local communities and those in need,” said Bill Lipinski, CEO of Farm Credit East. “Farm Credit East Cares was established to give back to the farmers and rural communities we serve. We hope these donations help the recipient organizations continue their good work.”
In excess of $35,000 was raised through the contributions of Farm Credit East employees across the organization’s 21 branch offices. With strong support from the Board of Directors, Farm Credit East matched employee contributions, up to $25,000, to total the $61,000 donated to more than 60 northeast charitable organizations.
Recipients of these funds include food banks and hunger relief efforts; youth programs, such as 4H and Future Farmers of America (FFA); educational institutions and agricultural education programs; veteran assistance programs, such as the Farmer Veteran Coalition and Wounded Warrior Project; charitable religious organizations; community and health support organizations; and programs to enrich the agriculture community.
“Farm Credit East Cares was really initiated by our team of employees, and I’m humbled each year by their growing generosity and their desire to support important causes that touch both rural and urban communities,” said Craig Pollock, Farm Credit East branch manager and Farm Credit East Cares coordinator.
Since the program’s 2011 inception, Farm Credit East Cares has contributed more than $400,000 to farm families and organizations impacted by disasters; to various northeast charitable organizations; and to local, regional and state not-for-profit charitable organizations focused on youth involvement in agriculture or local agricultural promotion.
