CARLISLE, Pa. — Youth ages 8-12 years old can explore what’s beyond their plate at this year’s new Farm Adventure Day Camp. The redesigned camp will include workshops that take youth on adventures through various fields of agriculture commodities with hands-on learning, including dairy, fruits, potatoes, vegetables and whole grains.
The two-day camp is scheduled for June 21 and 22 from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day, at two working farms in Cumberland County.
“Farm Adventure Day Camp provides all youth ages 8-12 the opportunity to get a closer look at how their food gets from the farm to their plate,” said Logan Hall, Penn State Extension Educator for 4-H Youth Development in Cumberland County. “While at camp youth will be able to experience firsthand the skills and knowledge used every day in agriculture.”
Registration forms are now being accepted and space is limited. The camp is open to all youth, ages 8-12 years old as of June 21 and youth do not have to be a member of the 4-H program. The deadline for registration is June 12.
