GREENSBORO, N.C.–On Saturday, April 21, the NC Extension Master Gardner Volunteers of Guilford County will host their 5th annual Family Gardening Day. From 10:00 a.m. until 2 p.m., this FREE event will demonstrate gardening techniques for those with limited resources: whether time, space, income, or mobility.
The theme this year is “Back Porch Gardening” and will use containers of various sizes to demonstrate planting vegetables, herbs, and companion flowers in small areas. There will be learning stations on other related topics as well as fun activities for children.
A tomato expert with NC A&T State University will hold a Question and Answer session, and an Enabling Garden will be on display for those with disabilities. While the event is focused on education, there will be plenty of activities for the entire family to enjoy.
Family Gardening day is being held at the Guilford County Cooperative Extension Office in the Demonstration Garden at 3309 Burlington Road, Greensboro, NC 27405. The event is free and will be held rain or shine.
