JACKSONVILLE, N.C. –The Fall Garden Symposium, sponsored by the Master Gardener℠ volunteers in Onslow County, will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Discovery Garden (beside the Farmers’ Market).
The Symposium hours are 8:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Events include gardening classes, crafts for kids, guided Discovery Garden and Pond tours, a native plant sale, a treasure sale, and a sale of the Master Gardener Cookbook. Shelton Herb Farm will also have plants for sale. Other participants will be Possumwood Acres and POPS. The following handmade items will also be available for purchase: birdhouses, bat houses, bird feeders, sandcasts, and plant benches.
The following classes will be offered:
9 a.m. Soil Sampling – Master Gardener℠ volunteer
10 a.m. Container & Raised-Bed Gardening – Master Gardener℠ volunteer
11 a.m. Cool-Season Planting – Shelton Herb Farm
Noon Wildlife Gardening – Master Gardener℠ volunteer
Guided tours of the Discovery Garden and Pond will be hosted at 9 and 10 a.m.
