DeLAND, Fla. — The University of Florida/Volusia County Extension will offer a Green Industries Best Management Practices Workshop from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 1, at the Agricultural Center, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand.
The workshop is designed to provide training to corporate, governmental, environmental and other personnel in urban landscape commercial fertilizer application. It was developed by the pest control industry and has been endorsed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Participants who are seeking certification for the first time must take pre- and post-tests. Those who are attending the class solely to earn continuing education units (CEUs) do not need to take the tests; they will receive a certificate of completion and up to two core and two category pesticide CEUs.

Registrants must send a $30 check or money order made payable to “University of Florida” to the Volusia County Extension, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand, FL 32724. Those paying cash may stop by the Agricultural Center. Payment must be received by Friday, Feb. 22. The fee includes morning refreshments, lunch and take-home materials.
Green Industries Best Management Practices is an educational program for people working in lawn care and landscape maintenance. The program teaches environmentally safe landscaping practices that help conserve and protect Florida’s ground and surface waters.
