GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Penn State Extension is hosting agronomic pesticide updates on Feb. 14 at the Adams County Extension office, located at 670 Old Harrisburg Road, Suite 204, Gettysburg. There will be an afternoon session from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., and an evening session from 7 to 9 p.m.
Both sessions will provide two core and two category credits (categories 1 and 18) and will feature presentations by local Extension educators Brittany Clark (Franklin) and Heidi Reed (York). Topics for the afternoon will be factors that improve pesticide performance; pesticide formulations; and late-season disease issues in corn, soybeans and wheat. Evening topics will be problem weeds to look out for in 2019; managing pesticide resistance; pollinators and pesticide stewardship; and insect and slug management in no-till.

If you have been meaning to take the Pennsylvania Private Pesticide Applicator exam but haven’t yet, you may be interested in the upcoming Private Applicator Short Course on Feb. 25 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.
This two-day event will help you prepare for the exam as Penn State Extension educators walk you through key material in the Pesticide Core and Supplemental Manual, with plenty of small group activities to keep you engaged. The event will take place at the York County Annex, located at 112 Pleasant Acres Road, York, as well as Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and 8 other counties throughout the commonwealth.
