ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Suzanne Driessen, University of Minnesota Extension food safety educator, St. Cloud, was honored recently at the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS) 85th annual session. She and Kathy Brandt, University of Minnesota Extension food safety educator, Marshall, received the 2019 First Place National and First Place Regional NEAFCS Food Safety Award at the conference.
In receiving the award, Driessen and Brandt were recognized for Extension’s Cottage Food: Keep it Safe! Keep it Legal! educational program. The program includes in-person classes, online course, a blog, newsletter and online publications for the Minnesota cottage food industry.
The NEAFCS Food Safety Award recognizes NEAFCS members for outstanding educational programs that meet critical needs for people of their state. Driessen and Brandt’s commitment to meeting the needs of Minnesota individuals, families and communities is exemplary.
