LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky Venues is excited to welcome Jacky Eshelby as the new Executive Director of Expositions. This position was created to oversee the planning, execution and growth of signature events at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
Kentucky Venues owns and operates numerous in-house agriculture-focused events including the Kentucky State Fair, World’s Championship Horse Show, North American International Livestock Exposition, North American Championship Rodeo, National Farm Machinery Show and Championship Tractor Pull.
Eshelby brings a wealth of experience. In her most recent role she served as the Director of Agriculture and Education for the San Diego County Fair where she developed strategies to increase the overall agricultural story and experience. Previously she worked for the California Mid-State Fair in various roles, including as the Special Coordinator for Fair Programs and Exhibits. In total, Eshelby has more than 25 years of experience in planning and marketing large-scale agriculture events.
“Agriculture is the cornerstone of our business and vital to the overall success of Kentucky Venues. Growing our in-house shows and increasing agriculture education opportunities is one of our top priorities. Jacky’s unique and extensive experience organizing major events is essential to helping build bigger and better shows that benefit the entire Commonwealth,” said David S. Beck, President and CEO of Kentucky Venues.
Both her professional experience and educational background focus on agriculture business, which is a key skill needed in her new role at Kentucky Venues. Eshelby graduated from California Polytechnic State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture Business and went on to earn a Master of Science in Agriculture Economics from Oklahoma State University.
“From finance to marketing, from competitions to educational exhibits, my experience in the fair industry has prepared me not only to have a 360 degree understanding in the management of large events, but also developed my passion to create memorable experiences for all those involved,” said Eshelby.
As a former competitor, Eshelby experienced the North American International Livestock Exposition firsthand in the show ring. From participating in the collegiate livestock-judging contest to watching her daughters show market lambs, she understands the importance of the Kentucky Venue signature events.
“There is nothing like experiencing the green shaving in the show ring. Getting to take on a leadership role to preserve and enhance this historic agriculture event is a dream come true,” said Eshelby.
