Nutrient Management in Organic Vegetable Systems – Field Day
September 21, from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Plant Science Research & Education Unit (2556 County Hwy. 318, Citra, FL 32113)
This event will visit 2 field sites where you can observe and learn about the results from research on multiple areas that influence soil health and how they affect nutrients. Topics covered at our research plots will include:
- Cover crop biomass, cash crop yields and soil results
- Crop quality and pests/weeds
- Nitrogen cycling
- Different growing systems, yield and soil results
- Irrigation management, including demonstration of loggers and sensors
After visiting the plots, we will move indoors for the following short presentations:
- Soil moisture and irrigation
Please wear comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes, and bring a hat.
The registration fee is $5.00 (includes materials, lunch, and transportation from the main building to the research plots). Participants must register online. This event is limited to 50 participants. There will be no refunds for the registration fee.
