Home Food Preservation Workshop
Home Food Preservation Workshop
Over the past few years there has been increasing interest in home food preservation. Canning, freezing, and drying are preservation methods that allow you to enjoy garden fresh produce and seasonal foods all year long. While these methods of home food preservation have been around for centuries, we have learned much about the science behind these methods in recent years.
Penn State Extension is offering a Home Food Preservation: Hands On Pressure Canning program. Join the workshop to learn more about pressure canning at home. Participants in this training will be actively participating in the canning process and will prepare a jar of product to take home.
The workshop will be held on Tuesday, July 16 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 303 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
Registration for the workshop is $25.00/person. Participants may register online at extension.psu.edu/home-food-preservation-hands-on-pressure-canning-training or by calling 877-345-0691. Registration deadline is July 2, 2019. Seating is limited.
Registrants may bring pressure canner gauges to be tested free of charge at the workshop.
Elaine Smith, MS, RD, Extension Educator and Jackie Forsht, Master Food Preservation Volunteer for Penn State Extension will be the instructors. If you have questions about the class, you may call 814-414-0583 or email ess10@psu.edu .
