The 2019 Illinois Forage Institute & Northwest Illinois Grazing Conference is scheduled for Friday, March 8, 2019 in Stockton, IL.

—“Managing Forages for Grazing and Harvest” will be the theme for the combined 2019 Illinois Forage Institute and 2019 Northwest Illinois Grazing Conference on March 8, 2019 in Stockton, IL.  The Illinois Forage and Grassland Council and University of Illinois Extension collaborated on this 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. combined conference at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 223 E Front Ave, Stockton, IL.   The registration fee is $20 before February 27, $25 after February 27, or $30 the day of the conference.

As the theme implies, topics have been selected to be of interest for forage producers and livestock grazers.  The conference featured speaker will be Dr. Dan Undersander, Forage Professor Emeritus from University of Wisconsin.  Dr. Undersander will share research and practical experience from across his career in “Drying and Harvesting High Quality Alfalfa Hay”.  He will also discuss the opportunities and challenges of making baleage.

Other presentations will include: Putting more Alfalfa into the Pasture Mix, Aggressive and Dangerous Weeds and Look-alikes, and Forage Quality: What does Livestock Really Need.  The other presenters will include Wisconsin Extension Agricultural Agent Gene Schriefer, Illinois Extension Commercial Ag Educator Philip Alberti, and Illinois Extension Educator Travis Meteer.
