FOUNTAIN, Colo. — Myths and misinformation have long been part of the dialogue surrounding ethanol and engine performance, and as part of an ongoing outreach effort, the Colorado Corn Administrative Committee (CCAC) is inviting mechanics and all others interested to hear from experienced and respected experts on these topics.
Titled “Clearing the Air on Ethanol,” the event is set for Wednesday, Oct. 11 at the Pikes Peak International Raceway (16650 Midway Ranch Road in Fountain), with talks focusing on ethanol’s many positive attributes.
An ethanol expo will take place from 4-6 p.m., and dinner and presentations will run from 6-8:30 p.m.
The event will feature presentations from Dr. Andy Randolph with ECR Racing, and Chris Van Roekel at Colorado State University.
As technical director of ECR engines, Dr. Randolph’s research – which focuses on the combustion properties of alcohol/diesel and alcohol/oil blends – has contributed to five NASCAR Cup championships.
Van Roekel is a mechanical engineering Ph.D. candidate and a graduate research assistant working at CSU’s Energy Institute Powerhouse Lab, where he studies oxygenated dual-fuel diesel combustion strategies, specifically the viability of ethanol-diesel dual-fuel combustion.
The event is free to attend and open to all mechanics and any other automotive professionals, as well as the general public.
Those wanting to attend are asked to RSVP by Thursday, Oct. 5, by contacting Melissa Walter at mwalter@coloradocorn.com, or at (970) 351-8201.
