PAW PAW, Mich. — As September starts and school resumes, we start to settle in to the reality that summer is ending and fall will soon be upon us. Do you have some leftover deck stain that you won’t be needing? Perhaps you want to do a fall cleaning, or maybe you have been holding onto some items for awhile because you haven’t been sure where you can dispose of them.
If you fall into either of the above-mentioned categories, the Van Buren Household Recycling Collection was designed just for you! This collection event is a great opportunity to clean up around your home and protect our beautiful Michigan communities from land and water pollution.
So, gather up any chemical waste around the house (e.g. batteries, fluorescent lightbulbs, cleaners, etc.) and around the garage (e.g. small amount of pesticides, paint, mercury, tires, etc.), and mark your calendars for the last of Van Buren’s two yearly household recycling collections on Saturday, September 15.
The household recycling collection, on September 15, will be held at the South Haven Public Works Building located at 1199 8th Avenue, South Haven, MI 49090. Drop-offs can be done between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The next household recycling collection won’t be until next year so don’t miss this opportunity!
For a more detailed list of materials that will be accepted at the event, please visit https://vanburencd.org/event/recycling-collection-for-household-chemicals-passenger-tires-latex-paint-2018-09-15/. If an item you’re looking to dispose of is not listed on our webpage, feel free to call the Van Buren Conservation District at (269) 657-4030×5.
Please RSVP tires to the Van Buren Conservation District by calling 269-657-4030×5 because space is limited. The collection is for Van Buren residents only – no businesses allowed. Currently, we are only accepting passenger size tires, limited to 10 per resident.
