WASHINGTON — The United States Cattlemen’s Association (USCA) commends President Donald J. Trump and the Administration on the decision to allow emergency grazing on Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) lands in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. The authorization follows the destruction of hundreds of thousands of acres of grazing lands caused by recent wildfires in those states.
USCA President Kenny Graner issued the following statement:
“The ability to graze on CRP lands following this type of disaster is crucial for cattle producers. USCA applauds President Trump for acknowledging this critical need and enabling producers to move their livestock to lands not charred by the fires.”
“USCA recognizes the important roles the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) will play during this time to ensure the viability of both Lesser Prairie Chicken habitat and the grazing lands needed for livestock. Allowing CRP landholders to pursue modified conservation plans, that include emergency grazing requirements, is crucial when faced with this type of disaster.”
“USCA is encouraged by the Administration’s response to this crisis and will continue to work with FSA, USFWS, and all producers in the affected region as this effort moves forward.”
