BRIGHTON, Colo. — Representatives of Colorado’s egg industry sat down last week with state representatives and senators to discuss the many ways their industry makes a positive impact in the Centennial State, using the meet-and-greet event as a relationship-building opportunity with the state lawmakers.
Among the many topics of discussion were the day-to-day operations of local egg farms, the economics of the state’s egg industry, our local producers’ standard-setting animal welfare practices and environmental stewardship, as well as the many nutritional benefits of eggs.
In attendance from the egg industry were Ted Greidanus with Opal Foods, Greg Silkwood with Nest Fresh Farms and Derek Yancey of Morning Fresh Farms. Colorado Egg Producers (CEP) Association staff that joined them were Executive Director Bill Scebbi, Vice President Jerry Wilkins, Industry Relations Manager David Collie, and Outreach Events Coordinator Terri Heine.
Lawmakers in attendance included Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg, Sen. Randy Baumgardner, Rep. Jeni Arndt, Rep. Don Valdez, Rep. Hugh McKean, and Rep. Chris Hansen.
