MILLBROOK, N.Y. — Each May, Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County Master Gardener volunteers and staff hold a plant sale fundraiser at the Dutchess County Farm & Home Center (2715 Route 44) in Millbrook, NY. This year’s plant sale will be held on Friday, May 18 from 10AM to 4PM and Saturday, May 19 from 9AM to 2PM.
Master Gardener volunteers grow and sell a wide variety of plants. Some of these varieties are “tried and true” favorites; others are exciting new introductions. We sell annuals, herbs and vegetables grown from seed or from plugs grown commercially. We also sell perennials, the majority of which are usually donated by Master Gardener volunteers.

(Courtesy Photo)This year, given the concern about invasive jumping worms, we will be selling perennials grown from plugs purchased from commercial growers who have confirmed their plants are free of worms and cocoons. Also to avoid any chance of spreading jumping worms in plant material, MG Volunteers created a temporary hoop house to grow the perennials with a thick weed barrier over the soil.
Master Gardeners are a group of trained volunteers who work in partnership with their County Cooperative Extension office to extend information throughout the county. The program is funded through volunteer fundraising efforts and from donations from the public. This is the primary fundraiser for the Master Gardener volunteer program.
Visit the CCEDC website at www.ccedutchess.org/gardening for more information, including a list of the plants that will be for sale. To purchase a gift certificate, which are a welcome gift for any gardener, please contact Nancy Halas at nh26@cornell.edu or by calling (845) 677-8223 ext.115.
