INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Farm Equipment and Technology has announced a Phantom 4 drone (UAV) will be given away each day of the Expo, scheduled for December 11-13 at the West Pavilion of the Indiana State Fairgrounds. A winner will be drawn from those who register for and attend the show on the day the drawing is made. The selection will be made each afternoon at 2 pm, and the individual must be present to win. No purchase is necessary; admission to the show is free.
Drones are being used by more and more farmers in their farming operations to perform a variety of tasks. Many use them to scout their fields to check on crop health, monitor weed control, disease, and insect infestation. New, sophisticated, mapping programs can use the data collected by drones to assess crop yields. Much of this new technology will be on display at the Indiana Farm Equipment and Technology Expo, which is focused on showcasing the latest technology and innovation in Indiana agriculture.
At the show, Purdue Extension officials will be demonstrating how UAVs can be used to collect data and assist in making important decisions. Purdue Extension educators have been conducting research and working with growers around the state on practical applications for drones during the 2018 growing season. This cutting-edge research will be presented in demonstrations each day of the expo.
Complete contest rules and pre-registration can be found at the official show web site, www.indianafarmexpo.com.
