LANSING — The 43rd annual Michigan Great Lakes International (MGLI) Draft Horse Show and Pull opened the doors Thursday to competitors from all over the U.S. and Canada. The event draws competitors from across North America and is the largest equine in Mid-Michigan. MGLI’s attendance tops 35,000 people, making it the 4th largest trade show in the Greater Lansing area, and the 10th largest in Michigan.
“This is our 18th year in East Lansing, and we love the venue,” said MGLI President Aaron Rice. “We invite everyone in Michigan to come out and see these awesome animals! It is worth the drive, no matter how far.”
The Draft Horse Show and Pull will open Thursday, October 17 through Sunday, October 20, 2019. There will be over 800 horses on the grounds, competing for purses worth over $90,000.
“MGLI is the only event in the world to feature halter classes, hitching, plowing, pulling and riding for draft horse breeds and mules at the same time and location,” said Rice. “During our exciting four day show you will see 230 exhibitors and 800 draft horses from 14 states and three Canadian provinces.”
Since 1978, MGLI has annually honored draft horse breeders and pullers who have made an impact on the draft horse industry and Michigan’s agriculture community. This world class event is made possible by supportive sponsors, industry participants and fans from across the world.
Visitors to the MGLI Show and Pull will enjoy one of the best presentations ever this year with many new teams traveling to Michigan to participate.
