LAMBERTON, Minn. — The University of Minnesota Southwest Research & Outreach Center (SWROC) will host a “Diversifying the Agroecosystem” field tour on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the Southwest Research and Outreach Center, 23669 130th Street, Lamberton, MN. The event is free and does not require pre-registration.
Registration will begin at 8:30 and the field tour will start at 9 am. Speakers will discuss a variety of topics including:
- Organic crop and vegetable research results
- Summer cover crop varieties
- Interseeding methods and timing of cover crops
- Research on alternative cash crops such as intermediate wheatgrass varieties, East African greens, hazelnuts and hemp
- Soil management for high tunnel vegetables
- Results from integrated crop-livestock farming studies
- Bacterial inoculation to enhance corn and small grain production
- Honeybee management
