SYRACUSE, N.Y. — New York Farm Show and New York FFA are teaming up to promote FFA across the state with the “Give the Gift of Blue Program.” The Gift of Blue Program provides FFA jackets for members that may otherwise not have an opportunity to purchase their own FFA jacket. “These young people are the future of the agricultural industry and New York Farm Show supports this next generation by helping promote the Give the Gift of Blue Program.” said Scott Grigor, Show Manager.
As FFA celebrates nearly 90 years of the official FFA Jacket, we know that the symbolic blue corduroy is far more than Official Dress, but an icon of the future of agriculture and an American tradition–instilling pride and responsibility in those who wear it. But not everyone can wear the jacket. Not because they don’t deserve to…but because they can’t afford to. To meet this need, we look to generous gifts from supporters like you! When you Give the Gift of Blue, you give a member the chance to wear a piece of history and to experience the pride of wearing their own blue jacket.
Beyond its place in Official Dress, an FFA corduroy jacket is an article of faith, honor and recognition of “Living to Serve”. The jacket unifies members in a long-standing tradition and reminds them that they are part of something larger than themselves. Let’s give every member the chance to be part of the tradition.
Did you wear an FFA Jacket and did it serve you well? Here is an opportunity for you to offer that experience to an FFA Member. Anyone can Give the Gift of Blue. You can wish to gift a jacket to a specific chapter, member or your gift could go to a member in need. Visit New York FFA at the New York Farm Show in the Center of Progress Building at booth 218 & 219 to learn more details.“This is an opportunity for people in agriculture to support the future members of our industry. To help them build pride and be a part of a tradition,”said Grigor.
FFA members will be attending the 33rd annual New York Farm Show, February 22-24 at the State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY with over 400 exhibitors covering more than 230,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space in six buildings. “It’s the premier indoor farm show in the northeast and an opportunity to showcase our future, the agricultural youth of tomorrow,” Grigor said.
On February 24th at 5:00 p.m. in the Empire Room of the Arts and Homes Building, the Robert Watson Memorial Toy Auction will be held. Over 200 Farm Toys will be sold to the highest bidder with all proceeds to benefit the New York FFA.
