CONWAY, S.C. — In this full-day workshop, Krista Morgan, Market Access Coordinator at CFSA, will share what farms should consider before scaling up business, and what adjustments need to be made before entering wholesale markets. She will also address how to choose which crops to grow based on market choice, how to choose the right wholesaler for your farm, and how to develop a good working relationship with your buyers.
Kim Butz, Local Produce Safety Coordinator, will provide an overview of the Harmonized GAP Food Safety Standard, which many wholesalers are requiring. Kim will provide farmers with the tools necessary to reduce food safety risks, meet market requirements, and closely align with the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirements. By the end of the workshop, you will have a personal GAP food safety plan tailored to your farm available digitally or printed. If you would like to complete your food safety plan digitally, please bring your laptop; thumb drives and binders will be provided.
