SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Pork Industry ranks fourth in the nation for pork production, contributes over $13.8 billion to our state’s economy, and provides over 57,000 pork industry related jobs to the state of Illinois. However, many students who are preparing to enter into the workforce are unaware of how promising a career in pork could be, simply because they do not have access to resources that provide them with this valuable information.
Recently, the U.S. Pork Center of Excellence, the Illinois Pork Producers Association and many other partners teamed up to create Destination Pork, a comprehensive curriculum designed for ag teachers to expose and interest high school students in pork industry jobs and career opportunities.
Filled with free and customizable lesson plans, educational materials, and learning resources, Destination Pork was designed to make introducing high-school-aged students to the pork industry FREE, easy and enjoyable.
We hope that you will take advantage of this incredible program and help ensure that students are given the opportunity to join us in this exciting and rewarding field.
