URBANDALE, Iowa — The Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT) will offer local Iowa landowners interested in permanently protecting their land to grow healthy food a no-cost opportunity to speak with an attorney and an appraiser at its upcoming Showcase Day at Rolling Acres Farm in Atlantic. Host Denise O’Brien is a lifelong family farm advocate, founder of the national Women, Food and Agriculture Network, former president of the National Family Farm Coalition and a founder of the Sustainable Iowa Land Trust.

Rolling Acres is owned by Larry Harris and Denise O’Brien, who are considering an agricultural conservation easement on the property to keep it in sustainable food production for generations to come.
Launched in January 2015, SILT has already acquired four farms, with thousands of acres more under discussion. SILT’s leadership includes a broad array of veteran family farmers and advocates such as O’Brien, Fred Kirschenmann, Jeff Kaufmann, Paul Willis and others.
